They tend to stand 15 to 20 inches off the ground, and the females are generally smaller than the males. Most males range from 60 - 80 pounds while the females are usually anywhere from 50 - 70 pounds. This breed can adapt to almost any kind of lifestyle; however, they should be protected from extremely cold or hot temperatures.

They have very short hair that doesn’t need brushing to prevent matting, and they aren’t extreme shedder. These wrinkly faced dogs to have a tendency to slobber and drool. These dogs are however susceptible to bloat. Bloat is brought on by a dog eating too much at one time, and it is very painful. It can even be fatal so proper food intake is very important. These dogs are naturally slow and they should not be pushed to jump especially when they are puppies. They do not need excessive exercise. Light to moderate exercise is ideal for them.

In order to maintain success with any of the old english bulldogs for adoption, the dog must know that the human is the leader. These dogs are a pack breed so clear lines and rules should be set in order to prevent these dogs from thinking they are the pack leader. They also love to chew so providing them with toys and bones for chewing is highly recommended.
